No, I believe the little polo rad is just about up to it as you never really press hard, you just go to fast

Next choice for me, which I will be using is a landrover TDI rad, these are relatively small but very deep. I have not measured in anger yet but look suitable.

You can do it quickly. You can do it cheap. You can do it right. – Pick any two.

Try your local independant radiator specialist, One in Cambridge who is very helpful and not too expensive. Work out the size and pipe orientation , bleed off pipe etc before hand .

I'm using a standard polo one on mine with no real problems. I do have a switched radiator fan and I also have an electric water pump which goes full blast all the time.

If I sit idling for a long time - like at the SVA test - the exit air is hot and I do mean hot. I had better explain the underside of my car is fully panelled and the hot air can't get out underneath.

Most of the trouble is on mine there is nowhere for the hot air to since if I run with the bonnet off there is no problem at all so I guess the airflow to the rad needs to be designed at the same time as the rad sizing.

Blessed if I know how to work this out apart from cutting bigger and bigger louvres in the bonnet untill its OK?

Me too and it was fine on the standard engine, though I may think need to upgrade when mods are done.
