Pinto alternator mounting

Hi guys,
Does anyone have details of the brackets used to mount an alternator to a pinto (in a locost 7).
Pictures/drawings would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
AL

If you have a pinto in a book chassis, I don't think you can use the std alternator (I couldn't get one to fit, but then I'm not very clever).

I used one from a Kia Pride which is basically a mazda unit and a home made bracket to keep the unit close to the engine. With hindsight, I would have made the lower mounds further away from the engine thus allowing the top of the alternator to get closer to the engine and further away from the chassis top rail, if you see what I mean Rescued attachment Alt Bracket2.jpg

If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

Pinto alternator brackets

I had a lot of trouble fitting an alternator into my MK engine bay. It was solved in the end by using a Westfield bracket for the lower fixing and a home engineered bracket for the upper mounting. Not sure this helps you but at least you know you're not the only one who found it difficult to fit the alternator in !

The smaller ally bracket is a help and with a bit of light grinding you can get the alternator closer to the block ,as long as it is the smaller ford alternator.
Some people also turn the mount upside down.
Top adjustable mount is just a simple flat bar with a hole at one end and a slot at the other

I made my own using a bit of steel plate with some angle welded to it. Mines a Lucas alternator on a pinto in an AVON chassis. HTH Rescued attachment alternator bracket.JPG
