In rough order of locost

MR2 or MGF
Hillman Imp Sport
Tandem bike
Boot/fuel filler cap release cables from the scrapyard maestro/montego or rover 200 will do the job.

An advantage of a push-pull throttle cable is that if it sticks, you might be able to pull the pedal up. Not a big chance of it happening, but worth considering.

thats something i definitly wouldnt recomend, thats what i did on my car and it almost cost me a major, throttle jammed on at 200pluss ks going into a 2nd gear cnr you should have seen the laundry bill.
theres to much friction in a bowden or push bike brake cable and even with two return springs it was sticking, replaced it with a Webber throttle cable and its now as smooth as silk.
the boot release cable is also a good alternitive to a high priced gen artical, as i found out after i bought mine.

Bicycle brake cables work well for a throttle cable and they come in pretty long lengths.
