Downloading torrents...

I have been experiencing some problems 'backing up' my CDs by downloading torrents.

They used to download very quickly, maybe a year or so ago. Then they just refused to download at all.

Tonight i tried again for the first time in ages and it has begun downloading, but i am only getting speeds of about 5-6Kb/s. I remember getting speeds of 80-100Kb/s before.

I have switched off my Windows Firewall. Should i try removing my NOD32 anti-virus?

Is there anything else i could check or do?

Thanks

i reckon you isp has throttled you torrent rtraffic

depending on your client you can disguise your traffic by encryption

Well its funny you mention that, because i have only just a few days ago changed from Tiscali to BTinternet.

I used to get good downloads with Tiscali, then it stopped altogether. Now changed to BT it is working but very slowly.

How do i disguise what i am downloading?

Any suggestions?

With great difficulty, I believe. The best you could do is move to a non-throttling ISP like ADSL24 or check out this site.

Good Luck

Also if the torrents are from a public tracker (no sign-up or download/upload ratio) they'll be sloooow.

What you need is a private site where you sign up, usually lightening-fast...

Just signed up, first download I'm getting over 500kbps , I've never seen over 100 before! 3 hrs for a 6Gb download, that usually takes me days.....

Thanks for the recommendation, know where I'll be getting my torrents from now!
