blade fueling

how do i tell if my engine has a dynojet kit fitted as i was told?

when i got it, it had a foam sausage filter fitted and measured 98db static so no chance on driveby at croft.
it seemed to be running rich going by slightly sooty plugs and high emissions.

i've now fitted the pipercross airbox , how will this affect the fueling? and running of the engine?

i'm planning on a trackday at anglesey in a couple of weeks so wont have time to get it setup properly beforehand so would i be better getting tested with the airbox so i know what noise level is and then running the day with the open filter?

not sure how the airbox will affect fueling so my main concern is making sure i dont run it lean.

cheers

As you don't seem to know the full history if I was you I'd invest in a rolling road session if you can fit it in. Preferably somewhere that knows about bike carbs. I think it is money well spent and peace of mind.

i plan on doing that but wont have time before anglesey, need to find somewhere in the northwest as well first.

if it has been dynojeted i will know i'm okay to run the open filter untill i get it setup for the airbox.

i've had a look inside one of the carbs but am not sure what i'm looking for

If anything the aibox will reduce air intake slightly so less induction noise and less chance of running lean IMHO.

If the car revs cleanly through the rev range with the sausage air filter on then I would say it has been jetted - especially if you say possibly running rich. You can also adjust the needles in the carbs too so these could be on a slightly rich setting.

When it's not been jetted with sausage airfilter it stutters (well mine did) at above 9000rpm

Anyway you should be fine for Anglesey without fear of running lean maybe more rich though.
Is it the 11th you are going? If so see you there

yes, the 11th. as i've just done a bit of work on the brakes i wanted a roadtest before booking it but it seems to be filling up now so will just have to book it and hope for the best. 1st time on track in a RWD car

i know the airbox will be more restrictive but wasnt sure if the fact it will be getting cold air fed to it would cancel that out.

with the sausage filter it revs cleanly right through the rev range

The airbox won't make it that restrictive.
The standard one will be a little considering it doesn't get a decent feed to it in a car like it would of in the bike.

Are you going to Anglesey and camping the night before?

If so there are more than a few people going that would be more than happy to check your fueling and tell you straight away whether it's been jetted or not!

after a bit more research i think it may have been done.
air hole blocked of

main jet looks shiny and new

i'm sure the needle had grooves in it and a clip in one of them near the end

regarding anglesey, i'll be coming down the night before. last time i stayed at a pub a few miles away but i was planning on making up a bed in the back of my van this time.

it would be good to meet up with a few people the night before.
whereabouts are people camping, at the circuit itself?

Certainly looks like its been dynojetted. Look closely at those new main jets. What number is stamped on it? (standard size is 115.) They need to be either 128 or 132 for BEC application.
