Rivet Information

I'm preparing to panel the Trials Car and needed some information on rivets particularly for the floor. I spoke to Primary fasteners who are extremely knowledgable and helpful. I thought the following information that I gleaned might be of interest so, here it is.

All pop rivets are Imperial so Imperial clearance drills should be used to ensure a tight fit. These are
3.2mm rivet use 1/8 drill
4mm rivet use 5/32 drill (yes, I know 4mm is identical to 5/32)
4.8mm rivet use 3/16 drill.

Sealed aluminium rivets have a greater magnesium content and are therefore stronger than the non sealed ones.

8mm long rivets grip 1-3mm
9.5mm " 3-4.5mm
11mm " 4-6mm

I hope this is of interest.

John
