My tie rod extensions arrived

As it's not acceptable to weld the tie rods and I have widened the track on my project by 100mm on each side, I need extensions. Not having a lathe myself, a nice man on the isle of man made these for me

^^^ what the monkey said.

either that or you need to fit a nut or half nut.

if you are after M14 halfnuts, u2u me with offer as I have quite a few of them.

Also you want flats on the extensions so you can grip them when doing up the nuts - or you will muller them with mole grips.

Hmm, I thought it ould be OK, as it bottoms out in the TRE. It'll probably ind back a couple of turns though, to get a nut in between the TRE and the extension. There's enough left at the other end to take up the slack on the TR itself

Alternatively, I could lop about 10mm off the end of each extension so that it winds into the TRE up to the shoouder.

Thanks for the heads up though

I tried getting some advice in this section on measurements for the extensions but had no replies.

I am running a +442 with escort rack and Sierrra TREs. What size would you recommend?

Cheers,
JB

Couldn't say really, as I'm running Nissan 200sx running gear all round with a FWD saab angine in the back. I will say this though, my calculations were relatively easy, given that I'd moved all the suspension outboard by 100mm. The distance from the tip of the male to the bottom of the female is 100mm - ie once wound fully into the TRE, the bottom of the female in ther extension is 100mm from the bottom of the female in the TRE.
