Recording video in car

At the moment I have a bullet camera which I record with a normal tape camcorder which works well but would prefer to use a solid state direct recorder which can double up as a media player.
There are a few on the market (JXD, mobibox etc)
Just wanted to know what other people are using and the quality as I would have thought they would be worse than a tape camcorder.

Thanks

I just use my digital camera [Pentax Optio A30].

On a 2Gb SD card I can record over 1.5hrs of video if the battery lasted that long.

The quality is perfect for you tube etc, and its a good little camera as well.

The main downside is lack of remote mic.

Example

The uncompressed quality from the camera is better than the youtube clip.

I'm very interested in this too, need - solid state (no disks), date marking, multi camera (front and back out windows. With at least 4hrs recording.

That is the sort of thing
http://www.4kam.co.uk/4Kam_DV3_DVR_digtal_video_recorder.htm
But the suppliers of the kits usually load up the price of the recorders.
Anybody know who makes them or similar ones?
Are they OK?

It uses SD cards, not a hard drive.

I'm thinking about buying an Aiptek Z600, which accepts an external mic (engine symphony, rather than wind noise

At a later stage I'll buy a Neuros SD Recorder, a bullet camera like this one and a multiplexer to join both cam signals.

Check Rob's website (and other pages) for a lot more info.

Cheers,
Joao

Yes I've seen this website.
Still prefer a media player as it can be used for many other things.
Anybody use one?

Just got one of these off ebay. Hardly used and a very good price.

http://www.cowonglobal.com/product_wide/product_A2_feature.php

I have to say it is the dogs undercarriage.

Recording quality from my 480 bullet camera is very good.

Works perfectly as a media player.
Highly recommended!
