Retaining old vehicle registration number

What are the criteria to be able to keep the donor vehicles registration number and not need SVA?

You will never keep the donor reg, if you wanna keep it put it on retention or transfer to another vehicle whilst the donor still has tax/mot.

If registering/sva'ing the car, closest you'd get is an age related otherwise Q unless you need all new/recon parts and get current reg with current emissions pass.

slightly off topic; if you get age related plate, can you then change the registration or is it fixed for all time likewith Q-plate.

If yes, in theroy of donor has mot, then you could transfer the reg over if you et age related plate.

now back on topic, I though that if you used chassis from donor and unmodified chassis i.e. change the body work, engine etc. then you keep the original plate - like the MGB and triumph based kit cars?

Yep, the only way to keep the original plate is to keep the original chassis or monocock (excuse the spelling!)

My car has the donor reg, allocated by Sheffield when I registered it in 2000.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Hi if you get an age related plate you can put a personal plate or as already said if you can get the donor number on retention you will be able to transfer it over when you are registered but only if given a age related plate if q no can do I have just done mine only takes 20 mins once you have all the paperwork.
