No. We are the Borg. Resistance is futile.

To be honest in a lot of posts some Socretean logic would go a long way. People tend to just repeat their opinion ad nauseam (usually something they've read somewhere on the internet) without actually disproving any other points of view. It just becomes a shouting match usually based on BS.

Sam, that is the funniest & most accurate thing you've ever said!

No it's not. sprintB said Dutton not Robin Hood.

...and Russ, if you're going to have a go at peoples spelling, what the F**K is an Arument?

Anybody remember 'Considerably' who used to post on here?

Used to wind a few folks up, claiming he owned an expensive Caterham (along with his country estate) and how folks who built their own cars must basically all be chav's....

Was actually quite witty with his comments though, I used to enjoy the banter.

I fully echo Russ's original post, as I mentioned in the one of the offending posts

Personally I spend my time on this fantastic website, to view problems and hints from my colleagues
some I can help with, as I built my own car from scratch, from "The book" and have rebuilt many cars and motorbikes over the years,
so if its scratch build, I may be able to help

Some peoples post on this site defy any reasoning, and self opinionated, and are just to antagonise, and upset

I do believe that the report button should be renamed to Unlike button, for each post, and for us the readers to hit, if we find it
to be against the flow of being constructive, the mods to moderate if someone is being an arse, and if so delete that offending post, plus after having ten posts deleted have there account suspended for a week or more!

It must be easy for a mod to view unlike posts ?

I could go on and on, and copy stuff from Google, and [paste here, but I am not a sad fucker, or a troll
I also don't actually like confrontation, and even more aggressive natured posts or people

why can we not all be nice to one and other ?

steve

Thats was probably spelt wrong, or had some grammer, that the "grammer police have to have a moan at

Don't [some] people nowadays use internet forums in the way that they used to use the taproom in the local pub [i.e. to talk nonsense/bully people]? The main difference here being - when you get a bit lippy no-one ACTUALLY gives you a slap round the chops?

It'd be nice if you could somehow block people who you just don't want to hear from - it works OK on Facebook - but in terms of actually stopping it (apart from mods policing it, which will also be fighting the tide) i can't see anything changing in the long run...

EDIT: Oh - and my build progress is so slow I probably hit a few of the bullets on the 'is it a troll list' but I am fairly sure i'm not :0D

Some forums (including Ozclubbies, the Australian equivalent of this one) have a 'like' button, that you can click if you find a post helpful, interesting, or amusing. It then lists on the post the names of the members who have 'liked' the content, and it seems to be a positive encouragement to good and helpful behaviour.

In combination with an 'unlike' button that does the same thing, it would almost be self-moderating, anyway (leaving the post up, so that the 'offender' can see the number of people who consider them an arse), but yes, you could have a trigger after so many 'dislikes' that would get you suspended for a period.

Ozclubbies also has a 'block' function, so you can choose to simply not see content from certain members, too, as per JPS's suggestion.

Probably quite a bit of work for Chris to implement, though.

I have no idea - when did I say that? & no, I haven't edited any of my posts! (Ahh! Ok, just spotted it, so I've edited this one, I blame my dodgy old keyboard, after all there is no realistic chance it could be my fault is there? )

I'm slightly worried that this thread is getting more response than anything I've ever posted that was meant to be meaningful & intelligent - not sure if that's telling me something about me or something about you lot?

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

Still, that does mean that the feeble attempt at humour in my second post on page one went right over your head?!

See, that's my problem... I'm just far too subtle most of the time. Maybe I need to just come out and say what I mean?

No, no, not at all, I understood all about your little wankel!

& geez, no, if you're normally being subtle I don't think that I want to see "blunt"

No, I meant the deliberate mis-spelling in the 'ETA' bit of my second post.

See, it's not a joke if you have to explain it. You've gone and spoilt it now.

Only the very most senior, educated & authentic engineers will understand the term "arument" - you've obviously all missed the whole point of the original post!

That as well, probably.

... but you gotta admit, anything with a reputation for spending a lot of time screaming ineffectually whilst not actually getting much work done, in between throwing tantrums and breaking down completely for no reason, is obviously feminine?

So that definitely makes BECs a girl's accessory?

Whereas Wankels just drink a lot, smoke a lot and are difficult to get going on a morning. Male. QED.
