OOPS
Sorry Nige - forgot to ask at work
I have scrawled it on a piece of paper and will try to remember to look at it during the day as a reminder
(I would have written it on my hand - but its bath night - and its bound to be wet on the journey to work as per usual and will have worn off by the time I get there and just be a smudged bruise mark :p )
You have my mobile - if you text me at any point tomorrow between 8 and 5:30 - it will jog my memory

If we don't have one in at work - I know we have a circle of banger boys who are quite partial to mondeo's call in regular enough to ask around (its the sort of thing they possibly just toss into the car when they bring em back in for cubing)

Having said that - the season is now done with - so I cant promise one will turn up

Laters
Rob

Are you sure its not the clock spring in the steering column (assuming it has one) . Sister in law had same problem with an escort. I cut out broken bit and resoldered it . Worked perfectly. Bare in mind on some cars ( Ford may not be one of them) need an obd reset tool to turn off the air bag light once the fault is rectified. BMW and Audi are like this.

Not sure about the Mondeo but on most models Airbag light faults are 9 out 10 times due to bad connections in the under seat connectors.
The foam material used in the seat padding apparently releases chemicals the corrode the connectors.

I've definately got one of these. You're welcome to it FOC if you struggle with the others. Having owned a couple of Mondeos in the past I have also encountered the air bag light issue. It had always been the yellow multi plug under the drivers seat. Pull it apart and clean the terminals.

I also have had the light on, on a Rover 75 and my current 2008 mondeo

both cars were fixed easily by taking the multiplug apart under the seat, and soldering the wires together, and shrink wrapped

Just checked FYI - all Mondeo's 1993-2000 use this part number, except Japan, which has a different suffix. So any model year should give you a module that works.

The other thing is check the fuse for the circuit has been removed to deliberately disable the airbag as a missing or blown fuse will cause the light to come on.

On switch on the air bag control unit checks each circuit for a high or low resistance outside limits, if you suspect the clock spring is defective you can test by disconnecting it under the cowl and substituting a 200 ohm resistor.

Usual caveats about working with air bags apply.

Snippy was kind enough to donate a module, I just needed to pay post. Unfortunatly it has to be from a 93 model or have the same serial number on the module fitted to the car, the actual plugs were different.
So i am still looking for a module from a 93 mondeo. Anyone know of one available.

Cheers
