Locost Chassis Optimization

For a senior engineering design project I am doing a FEA analysis on the book chassis and optimizing it to increase strength while keeping the weight down. If anyone has any suggestions or has been down this road before please let me know.

Have a look here, some good papers and not too heavy on the maths.

I have drawn my on conclusions on the rigidity (rightly or wrongly!). Its worth looking at the Aussie car versions as their cars have to be physically tested to a minimum of 4000 lbs per deg.
, so they are used to analysing their cars.
