13" Wheels

I'm building an Indy with rear drums and standard front disc brakes. Anyone know if I can I fit 13" alloys?

If so what is the offset I'd need? Don't want to end up with rear wheels way back in the rear arches?

The Indy manual recommends 15" x 6.5J Alloy with Et 38 Offset and 195/50R15 tyres. I've seen a set of 13" x 6J with 110mm offset, will these fit??

Cheers

Mike

there are two sizes of 'small' front discs, iirc 240 and 260mm. Most 13s will only fit over the smaller ones. Rear drums are usually ok (ie, all that ive seen were ok) but im not sure if there are bigger versions - id expect them to use discs rather than larger drums.

Not sure about offset though

Beware! Bourettes is binfectious.

I believe the MK sizes are based on having a disc braked back end.
You should be fine because you are using drums.

P.S. Please go for the 13" wheels - make my day / month. Fit good tyres as well - Yokos or Avons. Then your car will waltz around all cars on the bling wheels

Cheers Guys,

Just trying to do the maths, and struggling after a few pints, can anyone check.

If the 15" is 6.5J (6.5" x 25mm =162.5mm wide), half of that is 81.25mm, and the Et offset is 38mm then the mounting face to the outside edge of the rim is 43.25mm.

If the 13" is 6J (6" x 25mm = 150mm wide) and the backspace is 110mm then the mounting face to the outside edge of the rim is 40.00mm.

This means they are slightly narrower and shouldn't foul the suspension or hubs.

And they will fit if I use a 3mm spacer on the rears and bend the front mudguard brackets to suit?

Thanks Zil, am hoping to use Yoko A048's when finished.

???? Mike

I'm going to have to duck out of this bit of the conversation.
Just make sure you fit 13" wheels - that's all.

P.S. New class record for road going sports cars up to 2.0 engine was set at Kames last Sunday.
Car was a Westfield Sei
Engine - Vauxhall XE
Wheels - 7x13" minilites
Tyres Avon ACB10s.

'nuff said. And in conversation with Colibriman since then we both agreed - "it's all about the tyres".

P.P.S. New class record for road car up to 1400cc - Wallace Menzies in a Westfield Megabusa. 13" Image split rims and........
ACB10s...

Can you see a pattern here.....

17s are so last year.

I'm sure you could get some 22s off a Cadillac Escalade on there

the rear drums off a 2ltr sierra are bigger and IIRC won't fit into 13" wheel. I may be wrong though.....

You may.

They are 9" drums and fit alright under 13" rims.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
