Chain drive related problem

Hi guys. I know this is the locost forum but you guys are the bestest

So I'm building a mini with a 893 blade lump in the front. Chain driven to a corsa did with at rocket and corsa shafts spliced to mini shafts.

I've just taken it for a little test drive around the field at the back (grass field) and it seems to have a very bad shudder when driving. I've only had it in first gear and I've had no throttle on at all. I'm trying to figure out what the problem is. The shudder is about the same frequency as a mobile phone vibration but shudders through the whole car. It seems to occur in pulses of about 1 second a bit like a washing machine

I'm gutted like but I will endure !!

Pillar block bearings
At the moment have a chain that is 8mm wider than the sprockets as I made an error when ordering chain.

Any ideas what this could be ?

Any thoughts very welcome

Chain shimmer
It's moving on the sprockets and your feeling when the chain hits each side and the chain moves to the other on the rebound

Thanks for your reply. I did think of that but my speed and the speed of the chain is just too low IMHO.

I have ordered the right chain to eliminate that but I don't think that is what it is.

I'm also ruling out trueness of the shafts because again speed is to slow for that to be noticeable yet.

It does seem to be more when I'm turning slightly or with a more severe lock
Any other ideas ?

I know the tracking is quite far out at the minute. Could that be it ?

I'm talking quite a bit out too. Like probably 5 degrees toe on each wheel

How tight is the chain? I get a soft 'click click' on my bike if I've got the chain too tight, it needs a bit of slack.

The toe might cause the wheels to skip sideways, but I doubt you'd feel it through the car unless the suspension was loose.

The chain is very tight like. But it's a very short chain in fact half the length of a bike chain and I can still nip it in in the middles

I can stacked tomorrow and try again
