Chain driven diff

Anyone know of cheap chain driven diffs? other than Quaifes for £500?

seems to mean cutting up a seirra diff would give you oil containment problems - ie. bolting sprocket onto back side of crown gear?

would be more effeicent and less wieght?????????

Mini diffs have been used like this to good effect, and must be cheaper than the quaife. Probably best to find some grass track and hillclimb forums and ask on there, cos not many road going BECs use them, so knowlede will probably be limited in these circles

I have used both Mini and Golf diffs simply mounted in 30mm bearings to good effect. Just machine a bit more of a shoulder near the junction of the CW flange, and a groove for a rubber O ring. Then spin up an aluminium "Can" to cover the diff, and keep a bit of oil in.
I believe the diff out of a Mazda MR2 (?) is a Torsen type slippy diff, and would be ideal, as it too is from a small, light car.
BTW, if you use one from a Golf, there are quite a few permutations of drive shaft lengths from model to model, and by using either LH or RH.
