Plenty on ebay from about £85 upwards.

Rally Design do them in standard and high ratio as do Burton power, although they tend to be dearer.

Rally Design racks are £65 for a 2.9turn Escort rack. £100 for a 2.4.here

Reason for a quick rack is given that sevens aren't heavy on the steering they don't need to be low geared and less turns locktolock makes it easier to control(without having to keep moving your hands on the wheel).

Are quick racks easier or worse to drive with, as mine is standard, ive never known any different

Also currently steering is heavy at low speed, as my tyres are 205/13 with 16psi, yet at high speed the steering is very light

Quick racks are great.

Obviously at low speed the steering will be heavier, and at high speed it will be less light.

Rallydesign everytime for me.

I've got a Rally Design 2.4 quick rack and it made a world of difference compared to the 3.5 ratio escort rack I took off. I can handle any corner on the road without taking my hand away from quarter to three positions.

I have the old rack which is up for grabs if anyone wants to make me an offer. It is a remanufactured rack which I bought when building my car up a few years ago. It has only done a couple of hundred miles since new and is in very good condition. No track rod ends or extensions fitted though.

My advice would be to buy a 2.4 quick rack though!

Don't worry mate, you're better off with a 2.4 quick rack instead of a standard ratio one.

All you need to do now is find one at a bargain price or bite the bullet and buy one from RD.

If low-speed steering is too heavy, just wind off some caster. Go with the quick rack.
