J15 Radiator clearance

Hi
Any J15 builders can you give me the clearance between bonnet and top chassis rail please, also the clearance vertically between the foremost round bar that the bonnet hinges on and bonnet.
I have 2 radiators the ideal fitment for me is quite tall hence the measure please. The second radiator is really short but literally 3mm to wide to fit within the bonnet hinge frame.

Thanks

Hi the distance from front hinge bar (ctr) to bonnet is 310mm and top chassis rail to bonnet is 170mm, this decreases as you move to ward the front of the car due to bonnet slope.

These should be taken as aprroximate as it is difficult to get in with a tape with wheels and bonnet on

Hope that helps

Thanks
I thought i was being clever a year ago by not using Jeremys home built brackets and made myself a tray to seat the radiator in but was worried about the height as it is secured at the top by an arm/alloy angle, because of the height bought another golf rad which is lovely hieght wise but a few mm to long to fit in the tray.

Thanks again, nearly at engine start stage, are you nearly finished ?

Hi
I have gone for the original 1.6 sigma/zetec se but brought a brand new engine fm powertorque (done the engine rebuild bit before) it came with clutch, coil etc couldnt believe it to good to be true ! it was also came with fly by wire throttle ran down loads of blind alleys with firms to get it running as per Jeremys 127hp emerald ecu and stock engine then bit the bullet and have Jenvey TBs on it what a bummer ???.
Trying to keep the wieght down as much as possible Hi spec front calipers audi rear calipers team dynamic pro-race. Funds are limited but i have built before but that was serving my apprenticeship now i am trying to build a car to last 20-30yrs, wont say i will never build again but i wont sell to build again if you know what i mean.
Chassis is yellow powdercoat and bodywork royal blue (when bought) as per Jeremys bike engined Riot.
See a lot of Jeremy as i drive past everyday on way to work if you need any answers etc.
What about your spec etc

i have gone for grey chassis and red body, same as jeremys car but 2 roll hoops.
Ford brakes front and rear.
I bought a 1.4 fiesta for £200 and am using the engine and ecu straight out of the car. This worked fine after a bit of fiddling.
Im going for a simple straightforward build as it is my first, with an eye to upgrades after IVA [puma engine maybe?] But i am sure with just 90hp it will be rapid fun

Hi
I have the double hoop as well, took me ages to decide J15 or Riot. Have to commute 40 miles each way to Lincoln so bought a Puma 3 years ago to check the engine out, lovely engine the torque at 40 plus was brilliant for overtakes. The secondhand price though was what made me go new in the end scrappys/ebay wanted £400 by the time i had stripped and rebuilt it would have been nearer £600 and that the engine with an Omex ecu in the magazine only produced 3hp more than standard.
Outright speed wasnt what i was after but handling, had a Tiger before but cant explain to non kitcar people how much real car you get for your money with this hobby.
Hoping to finish this year ?????

Maybe ???

Calipers etc

I am interested in your comment "Hi spec front calipers audi rear calipers team dynamic pro-race", I am confused on a couple of issues you could help me with (as I have not got my kit yet).

Jeremy says "Pair of fully assembled front Triumph uprights complete with spindles, heavy duty bearings, steering arms and alloy hub with studs and discs" How does this help with or hinder a 4 pot caliper choice?

Are the studs 108mm 4 hole and the wheels 195 x 55 x 15 like my Westie?

I would like to keep the Westie Track wheels the same for both cars!

I assume the Hi spec calipers mate with them no bother, which distributor did you use?

What about vented front discs do any of the standard offerings fit or do I have to remain with the solid disk?

I had a call from the engine tuners today, the 1.7 VVT is just about complete on its refresh and upgrade to racing puma spec. I am using the standard EMU/ECU. Having trouble locating the Racing Puma inlet?

Any help comments welcome, I did not mean to hijack your thred, reply on a PM if I have offended!

Hi
No probs we all love talking about our cars ?
Jeremys hubs are the same as Caterhams (pretty sure) so I went for Hi Spec as the disc are 232mm solid which is the same for a Caterham or old style Caterham and Hi-Spec do a specific kit for that hub/disc.
I think everyone has a different opinion on good/bad brakes but i didnt go for vented/drilled etc cos the car is so light but did buy mintex 1144 pads. I also live in Lincs although we have some cracking B roads we also have long, long straights which end with severe bends !!!!!
The audi calipers are on the rear with escort mk 2 discs ? not sure what the calipers are from but you can get a pair including pads for £98 brand new thats a bargain either Rally Design or Compbrake (v good) i use Rally Design quite a bit never had a problem but bought from Compbrake because RD didnt sell those calipers when i bought.
Sure the tyres are the size you mention again looked at every website i could find then took the price to my Bush tyre dealer and he matched the price i picked up no delivery cost.
Sure the PCD is correct 108 4 stud "standard Ford".
Think the Racing Puma is very rare only 500 made ? rings a bell one of them use to drive past me every day i was always jealous because the basic one was an excellent drive never mind the 153hp version.
I will suss this image lark eventually and post some pics but most are just to keep the IVA man happy that it is home built. If you need specific pictures let me know but i lost my "home" garage recently so only tend to see the car on a weekend.
Enjoy the build
