Timewarp XR3i cabriolet

Here we have for sale my little toy

FORD ESCORT XR3I CABRIOLET
UK CAR REGISTERED IN 1989
3 PREVIOUS OWNERS IN 23 YEARS
ELECTRIC FOLDING ROOF
ELECTRIC MIRRORS HEATED
ELECTRIC WINDOWS
ELECTRIC LOCKING
HEATED FRONT SCREEN
HEATED REAR GLASS SCREEN
MOHAIR OPTION HOOD
USUAL XR3I REFINMENTS OF THE ERA
TAXED TILL END OF JUNE
TESTED TILL 22/02/2013
99,000 BUT YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW

WHAT MAKES THIS CAR UNUSUAL IS THE FOLLOWING POINTS...

The Escort was sold originaly by a ford main dealer and in hertsfordshire the original owner owned the car for 5 years in the UK before moving to south of France in 1994 with his work, the XR3 went with them and the family, and stayed with them in France for 11 years which brings us upto 2005, the XR3 was then brought back over to the UK when the guy retired and moved back home. The car was sorned not long after and then a year later sold to another owner, who kept it 4 years again it was only used in summer and sorned part of the year, and the last owner bought it as an investment and has had to sell on due to unforseen circumstances, so as you have just read this car has not seen much bad weather or uk salt, this reflects in its condition..

So to the condition of the XR3i..

I used to work for ford in a main dealer my self back in the day these were new, and i have never heard a 16.cvh engine sound like this ever, this one is silent from the outset no matter how long its stood not even a tappet noise, no oil leaks ethier, nice clean coolant no nastyness what so ever mechanically it drives like new believe me...

Interior

Well the pictures speak for themselves to be honest shy of a little bit stretch in the drivers seat cloth the interior in 99% perfect only showing mark here and there it got a tonnau cover as well for when the hood is down.

Exterior

From as far as i can tell the XR3I is what looks to me as original paintwork i am no professional though on paint, but its proper solid and yeah its got the odd scuff and mark here and there but its 23 years old remember on the near side wing is one blister finger nail size and a tiny bit on the base of the screen rubber just starting too, underneath is very tidy with no signs of welding or needing any ethier..

ROUND UP

If your in the market for a retro ride and want something that is not going to loose money and a bit different this could be for you, its a hoot to drive and so simple technology and cheap to fix by god is it, bits are really cheap these days when your out in it people comment on its colour and condition and go out there way to tell there stories of there old XR3is to be fair im not bothered if it even sells i will store it away for a few more years myself, so ths is a half ditched attempt before i do just that..

Lastly the hood is really clean and tidy and dont even leak with a jet washer, all electrics work perfect all the heated rear screen bars the electric ariel everything, its even
got the original stereo and handbooks etc...

paperwork wise ive got stacks basically ive got original bill of sale and service history receipts and then its all goes french for about 10 years and then back to uk stuff ive plenty of mot certifacates in fact i think its all of them, spare keys and stuff like that..

WHERE WOULD YOU FIND ONE LIKE THIS NOW, CANT BE MANY LIKE THIS ABOUT...

SOME OTHER ODD THINGS TO MENTION...

SPARE WHEEL HAS NEVER BEEN ON EVER
ORIGINAL STEREO STILL FITTED
ELECTRIC HYDRUALIC HOOD PERFECT
LOOK AT THE BATTERY TRAY PICTURE ITS LIKE NEW, THEY ROT LIKE HELL THERE, I WAS WELDING THEM UP 20 YEARS AGO

LIKE I SAY YOU NEED TO SEE IT BUT ITS VERY CLEAN AND ORIGINAL WITH NO ROT ITS NOT CONCOURS MIND BUT BLOODY CLEAN MECHANICALLY PERFECT AND DRIVES SPOT ON..

LOOKING AT £2595 ono please or try me if you have a deal in mind

Love it! I do want a mk4 for my 'collection', but I'd kind of set my sights on an RS Turbo.

However if I had any storage space left I'd be very tempted to make you an offer!

I'm in the same boat. If I had storage space I'd be up there with a trailer by now and stashing it away for a few years.

Not long left on ebay now someone is going to be happy as the reserve is very low....

let it go to a loved home guys not many left like this and if a 7 kitcar is a bit raw this retro ride could be an ideal family toy..

It pains me to see it going so cheap. Honestly, if it wasn't for the storage space problem I'd be all over that to stash away in my collection of old Fords for a few years until they're really rare!
