Parts washer. what fluid to use?

I managed to get my self a cheap parts washer from ebay. What is a good cheap readily available that wont knacker the pump?

Machinemart sell the "proper" solvent, but as said a lot of people happily use paraffin.

My parts washer had a sticker on it stating that it should be used with petroleum based solvents only so might be worth checking to see if there is specification on yours. I am using paraffin which does a great job but doesn't smell to good, that probably goes for most solvents.

50/50 petrol diesel works great but potential fire risk if you do anything silly

Jizzer or Gunk in mine, works very very well. Once tried the machine mart parts cleaner and wasn't that impressed compared with the proper stuff.

Thanks for the replies. I think i will try Paraffin. The washer has a closeable lid so i can shut it when its not in use and sparks are flying
