Group 4 engine mounts?
Have any of you ever used Escort Group 4 style engine mounts for your locost?
I'm thinking of using them for a Audi V8 motor becuse they are cheap, easy to work with, and very tidey, but I wonder if they can handle the
weight. Any Ideas?

Not a direct answer to your question but seem to work well on my mate's 2.1 Pinto in his Escort.

group 4 style as in the world cup bushes??
The group 4 cars, to my knowledge, all use the world cup bushes which are a steel outer tube bonded to a rubber tube bonded to an inner steel
"crush tube" which is sandwiched between two mounting flanges which are bolted to each side of the engine.
One of these:
and the bushes (which I can't find a photo of) press into the big holes in this type of escort crossmember:
.
Now if these are what you mean, then yep, they are VERY heavy duty and will easily mount a v8.
We have used them in many rally cars to mount all sorts of engines and gearboxes too.
Retro RWD is the way forward...........automotive fabrication, car restoration, sheetmetal work, engine conversion
retro car restoration and tuning

Yup,
This is what I mean.
Of course I will buy the rubber bushings and make the rest to fit my engine set up.
But it was the bushes that I was talking about.
Thanks for the info guys.. I will post pictures when I have it all made.
