Just plain rude.....

Don't you just hate it when somebody asks your advice on here, especially when it's a U2U, and you spend ages putting together all your vast wealth of knowledge in a reply, then you never hear another word from them......

Makes my blood boil ......

Have you checked to see if they have read it? By looking at the outbox. A couple of weeks ago I sent someone a U2U (in reply to a query he sent me) and haven't had a reply, and when I look at the outbox it is still showing 'Not Read'. Maybe he's on holiday, or hasn't noticed the quite small warning that shows when there is a new message.

OTOH if it's a general query I don;t think they should have sent a U2U in the first place, but asked the question on an open forum where we could all have benefitted from you carefully crafted answer.

Why not post it here, I at least will show some apreciation

John

TBH it's happened twice this week.

First I messaged someone who I've bought something from. The cheque cleared weeks and weeks ago and it was meant to have been sent. I messaged him asking what carrier it was sent with and does he have a tracking number ?

No answer

2nd was someone who U2Ud me asking for a favour, I replied that I couldn't do it at the mo', but in a week if he was still desperate, no problem.

No answer

It's just common courtesy surely ?

edit: and yes, I've checked to make sure they've been read...

I once sent you a lengthy U2U about the lightning process and your reply was tantamount to no reply

i suppose i'm a little guilty of this at the moment, i've asked a couple of people advice privately via u2u. had nice long answers and i haven't replied - this is simply because they've both given my different advice and i'm trying to think what to do next.

I asked privately as i thought a public discussion may end up being a slanging match and i didn't want that.

LOL this all amuses me!!

I often just u2u my mobile number if somebody takes the time to call me then they probably are actually going to DO something rather than just THINK about it.

As I said, I like to see a result, rather than a thank-you (though they are nice too)

Take Froggy on here for example, he called me ages ago re. various bits and bobs, and to be honest i don't think I was that much help really, but now his Kitten van has TWO v twins

The results speak for themselves!!
