Limp mirrors (Honda - I think)

Firstly this is not a dig at Luego.
My drivers mirror went very limp the other day.
I have been trying to work out how it comes apart.
Now having found that out by breaking the glass!

The Glass is Hot Melt glued to the plate it sits on and that is screwed to the mirror housing. You cant get to the screw heads without removing the glass.

I know there is atleast one other person, wondering how these com apart.
Well now you know.

I would suggest warming the mirror evenly and gently with a heat gun, it may be enough to soften the glue.

The Plastic ball area has broken giving rise to the "Limp dick" problem. Removing all the broken bits I have managed a repair.

All I need now is a new Glass.

Anyone know of a source?
I believe they are honda mirrors but done know which model they came from.

Any help or suggestions gratelfully recieved.

Also fixed the broken door check strap (bracket re welded), and the ABS on my Volvo.

it appears that Dry solder joints in the Volvo ABS control module is a common problem.
New Units are NOT CHEAP. However, my time is free to me, and a couple inches of solder is not expensive. All fixed now. and a dead easy job it was.

Halfords do replacement mirror glass for various cars and, I think, bikes - if you've got one local it would be worth taking a mirror round to see if there's anything that fits

Geoff , if you get stuck and can't get one try GlassWorld in Chesterton . They can cut a mirror to size and shape

Hi Geoff.

They are SV 650 mirrors I believe - take a squiz at Heinez Gereke (or however it's spelt - the motorcyle place)

That's where Matt/Grant used to source them from - I believe - or alternatively contact Matt or Grant

Matt is CASAVA on ebay shops and Grant is Optimum Balance Products.

HTH

Cheers

Murray

I wne t through ALL of Halfords mirrors yesterday Pm. None fit. Its also slightly curved to boot.

Halfords do a flexible cut your own sticky back mirror for £9.99 (sold from the spares counter and not on the mirror display

There is enough to do Two of these mirrors.

So hopefully it will be sorted tonight.

PS.. Thansk Muzchap, I did know about Matt and Grant's new company names. But not about Hein Gericke.

MPS

Try the fast one for mirrors.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
