Hmmm, with only a minute left to go it isn't looking hopeful!

I think it is a fair price if it is as good as it looks in the piccys, but everyone on eBay wants something for nothing....

No bids, unsold. Not surprising really, in fact I would have been amazed if it had gone at that price. Worth a try though.

I guess he will just have to keep it, or try again at around £6.5K

If anyone offered me £6.5K for my Viento they would be told where to shove it.

Post no-sell auction - I would have said no anyway...

He stands a more realistic chance of £7500 for it... though at the moment anything with a big engine (i.e. so low miles/gallon) is gonna get hammered down on price!

Yes, but you are not trying to sell yours, and that's the difference. Kit cars are never worth as much to a buyer as they are to the orignal builder. It's a shame, I know, but true none the less.

The way to get the money's worth from what one has to spend to make a decent car is to keep it, not sell it.

that's quite njice actually; could do with some wheel spacers are the rear to fill the arches.

hmm, it is hard to say what any kit car is wroth but generally they are unlikely to fetch more that what one has paid to put one together.

aslo st austell is on the edge of the world so that doesnlt help selling either.

I agree that kit cars are will never sell for what they cost to build, however why pick on this particular Viento.
A Viento will cost most people substantially more than a normal sized 7 and this should be reflected in the re-sale value.
The large engine fitted will attract the same VED as a 1.6 pinto so this should not affect the price.
As for the cost of fuel / MPG, well no-one buys these cars for economy so again the price should be unaffected by a V8.

The Viento is a unique kit and prices can only be compared to other Viento's.

It looks like a very nice car. I am convinved that Ebay is a bad place to sell a kitcar. When I come to sell mine it'll be through word of mouth, this forum but most importantly the magazines. I suppose that the current financial climate is making luxury purchases a little more difficult too, all the more reason to enjoy our cars whilst we can.

Because it was on Ebay at the time, with only a few minutes to go. Nothing else meant by it, NTDWM etc. It just seemed to me that the guy was being very optimistic with his starting price.

It's not that I don't think his car is worth it, in fact I'm sure it is worth it and more, it was more to do with the selling environment.

If his car on any other decent Viento was on sale in somewhere like Sovereign cars then they would probably be asking well into 5 figures, and get it to.

Please don't think I've got anyhting against Viento's, I haven't. In fact I think they are an excellent car and an extremely well executed solution to the problem of scaling up the 7 concept to the point at which real people and real engines can be accommodated.

John
