Type E gearbox top cover wanted
Anyone know the best place to buy a Ford Type E gearbox Top cover? Mine has developed a rusty hole in its lid!

Actually, having just rechecked I think I have a type 3 as it has 8 bolts on the top instead of 10. Can anyone confirm this?

What's it from originally? Sierra only had type 3 in 1.6 models. Type 2 where fitted to base models including some 2.0. Type 2 top plate also
has 8 bolts. So I would guess you have a type 2.
ETA - going by gaskets, type 2 has 2 bolts each edge. Type 3 has 4 bolts one edge, 3 bolts the opposite and one on a third edge and fourth edge with
no bolts.

Hmm, maybe it could be type 2? It does have 2 bolts on each edge. I`ve just removed the gearbox today from a Jago that was built in 1984. I`m pretty
certain the donor vehicle was a mk1 escort 1300 at the time.

That's the fella yes! Earlier box than I thought then. So, I need a type 2 top cover then, any ideas or just try and weld a plate on mine?

If its not too bad try welding a plate on it
Or even fibreglass could do a repair aslong as its not load bearing
