2003 Mini Cooper S (supercharged), 12 months MOT - price dropped again

Jan 2003 car on a 52 plate.

My cherished mini, it has been a great car to me for the past 12 months, but unfortunately I just need something a bit cheaper to run as I am covering more and more miles. Its well pampered, washed and polished every week, and is in superb condition other than a couple of minor dinks in the bodywork (detailed below). They are very minor though, and being a perfectionist I would have had them fixed if serious.

It is brilliant fun to drive, the supercharged engine is a dream and sounds stunning. Handling is amazing and will certainly leave most other hot hatches standing going round roundabouts!

Full MINI service history - 3 full services, including brake fluid changes as required by the Mini service schedule. Next service due in approx 4000miles (included in TLC XL!)

3 owners from new, myself included. The owner before me was a good friend who bought the car from a dealer at 18months old so the history is well known.

Lots of receipts, old MOT's and paperwork to go with the car.

3 keys in total, one remote, one standard and the plastic emergency key

12 months MOT

2 brand new tyres (at a cost of £350!) and 2 other good

Tax until end of July 09

Free servicing until March 2011 (TLC XL pack) next service due in 4000miles

58,500miles (car is used daily)

Never been smoked in!

LOADS of extras
Standard engine spec (~165bhp) 0-60 7 secs
Averages around 35 mpg, upto 40mpg on the motorway
Electric (metallic) blue, with white roof
CHILI pack
Suspension upgrade (sports ++ pack which gives a firmer ride but even better handling than the std Cooper S)
Xenon headlights
Front fog lights
Ful Climate control in perfect working order
17" S-spoke wheels
Double electric sunroof (panoramic style)
6 CD Changer - official mini fitment
Traction control upgraded (allows more wheel slip without turning it off)
Stability control
Half leather - graphite interior, no rips, tears or damage
Height adjustable seats
Electric mirrors
New brake pads all round
New official mini exhaust fitted less than 4000miles ago (cost over £500 from BMW)
K&N panel filter fitted (retains std airbox)
New gearbox and clutch less than 10k miles ago - replaced under warranty
Complete set of mats fitted
Original mini toolkit present

In the interests of honesty - The bad points, I have added some pics of the problems below:

There is a small, shallow dent in the boot lid - its not creased and would pull out. It was there when I bought the car, and havent bothered as its hardly noticeable. I have tried to get some pics of it but its very difficult as its so minor

There are a couple of small dings in the front bumper - also there when I bought the car. Again you can just about see them in the pics.

There are some minor scratches on the roof on the drivers side at the front. Again its minor and not obvious unless you are looking for it. A bit of time with some touch up and polish would have them gone.

Theres a stone chip in the wind screen but it passed the MOT with it as its not in the drivers line of sight - so its not really a problem, its been there for a few years and has been repaired and never got any worse.

Having said all that the issues are very minor indeed, and I have only highlighted them to be honest about the car. Other than the issues above, the car is absolutley perfect.

Parkers list these at £8,000 with all the options listed above.

£6,000 - no offers

I'm surprised the roof and doors aren't bulging given your taste in music David .

Looks a nice one - if I lived in GB would be very tempted.

£6.5k is a bargain, infact its trade price. I have been offered £6.5k no problems by 3 garages now. Only trouble is they dont have anything I want!

Very tempted, surprised no-one's snapped your hand off already.

I used to have a 53 plate Cooper S, same colour too. Absolutley loved it, just drove the new turbo one and was a bit of a let down compared to the older ones.

Thanks, they are AMAZINGLY good hot hatches. They have a girly image, but you soon forget that once you have driven it a few miles!

Totally agree the turbos are a real let down Another example of cost saving spoiling a great car.

Got messed around big time this weekend by 2 potential buyers, which was a pain.

I love it, but sadly it has to go

Just bumping the car back up for you.

Id love something like this. its just on the wrong side of affordable for me at the mo though
Ill have to get my beemer sorted and sold first. Ive just bought a T-reg Audi A3 1.8T sport which is a great little run around. Got someone coming to look at Mac#1 tomorrow, ill be sad to see her go (if they buy it) and would love to get a toy as a replacement that can be used every day.

What is that Panoramic roof all about then? Or is yours different?

Bump!

A Colleague of mine a couple of years ago had one of these.

I remember him banging on and on about this Chili pack business!

Great car, handled like it was on rails.

Cheers,
James

That's not expensive for around here. My wife has just bought a 2006. To say it flies is an understatement. I am told my 7 will be even better, but I have a really hard time believing it.
