Nice tidy looking build (unlike mine!)

What I would look at:

My tester wanted more secure wrappings on tie-rod sleeves, I used tie-wraps and he was OK with that although I had to remove them to prove they were locked.

You will want to cover the camber adjustment nut on your upper WBs

Not sure about the cycle wing supports, they look like they might be a tad sharp at the upper end of the tube?

I don't think you will get away with the adjustable bias bar lock-wired even though you have the notice sticker. My main fail was the front/back brake balance, and when I asked about fitting anything adjustable but locked, he didn't sound to keen, suggested a fixed device.

I'm sure you will get some more useful comments.

And GOOD LUCK for the test, my re-test is on Saturday, hope it was worth the extra £19 for a Saturday appointment.....

JB

Just realised, I can't see any side-repeaters?? (probably my old age )

Are your front indicators high enough?

Im not sure on height of the fog and reverse lights, but they look quite low?

A nice loooking build though! Well done.

I have a few questions though-
Have you got any pics of how you have fixed the aerocatches? Have you welded plates on plates/ drilled through the chassis? Have you got any tips on how you fitted them without messing up?

Your front wings look exactly like mine, even cut the same way- have you strengthened the side of the wing (where it has been cut) to stop it flexing?

PM me if you want- so that it doesnt hijack the thread!

Good luck with IVA though

Cheers for the input!

Side repeaters are on rear wings

Front cycle wing stays are radiused i might chuck some edge trim on just in case.

With regards the bias bar it actually says in the manual that locking wire is acceptable. I did take the car out last night down a private road and the fronts locked first and did a brake test on rollers today so hopefully all will be well.

The track rod sleeves are a bitch to get on and off they are very tight, would you suggest cable ties too?

MSD

Lights are all within heights, front indicators are a bit close due to the droop down on the extenders which i forgot to allow for.

Cycle wings, yes i did reinforce, i bonded a strip of 3mm ally flat underneath to give a bit of rigidity back.

With regards the aerocatches. I drilled through the chassis, put some crush tubes in and adjusted for the pull down. No pics unfortunately but it was just a case of measuring three times before doing anything. Once fitted I Did have to bend the keeper pin inwards to allow for the curve of the bonnet. Its an ally pin so bends easy.

Looks like a great build, love the stack stuff.

Wing stays - where it goes from round tube to flat bar, grind the edge down or off(I got picked up on this).

Thats all I can see, have you anything under the dash that isn't covered?

Under drivers side all wiring inside a big conduit.

Passenger side has a cover.

Cheers for the cycle stay tip much appreciated, will get the flap disc on that tomorrow.

Boot cover ready to fit tomorrow.

With regards to harnesses, I haven't found anything in the manual to say you cant have clip in harnesses and I know people have passed with them. I have split pinned the locking lever to render them un removable with out tools.

runs off to re-read manual................

Very, Very tidy looking build - you should be proud of what you've created there!

Lockwire on the bias bar nuts is fine - just hope you have the adjustment right!!

Good luck with the test - by the way, do your indicators work? (I'm going by the badge on the steering wheel).

Thank you very much for the kind comments.

The brake bias seemed fine when i gave it a spirited test to get it to lock up, i just hope i didnt move the bias any when locking it off.

Fortunately no bmw electrical components were harmed during the course of this build, therefore I have a fully functioning set of indicators.

Just one small idea that may help you. If the heights of the lights/indicators are close to the limit add some more preload to the shocks before you go for the test. You can always adjust the suspension again afterwards.

As Franky said, 'I did it my way' ooops, sorry couldn't resist . but as he said, where the round goes to flat on the stays is what I meant.

Regards the trim on the tie-rods, I only mentioned it as my tester wanted me to show him the lock nut underneath which meant moving them and then re-tie wrapping.

Cheers!

I will put cable ties on as well. Go for belt and braces.

I've just done the wing stays now that's one off the list.

Cheers
Steve

Have you got a tether on your fuel filler? Do you need to cover the rear view mirror nut? Where abouts have you stamped the chassis?

Hi there

Fuel filler is tethered. Don't think the rear view nut will contact the sphere. I have covered it now just in case. Vin is etched on Rh side lower chassis rail.
