Rear Disks
Hey all, just got my sierra rear end with a 3.14 diff , only problem is the drums are pretty manky. Just wondering does any1 know of a company tht
does rear disk conversion kits? (Dont want alisters car being exactly the same as mine )

If you get a diff with bolt on drive shaft and get rear disc uprights from MK you can do it then. Instead of changing the diff, i think you can just
change the two shafts either side from the push in ones to the bolt on ones.

Hi Chris,
Ive got a mk2 Escort rear axle, its a type C Timken unit with the push in half shafts. It wasn't complete when I got it and I cant see whats
supposed to hold the half shafts in to stop them from sliding out. is it the break drum that holds them because it doesn't look very secure.

You would need to find a donor lsd back axle. take off all the relevant bits i.e discs, lobro shafts etc.
Take the back plate off the diff. Inside you will find 2 circlips holding the lobro flanges on. Once off you can then pull out the lobro flanges (its
splined).
You can then do the reverse procedure to your 3.14 diff and hook up the flanges shafts + discs etc.

If you have a look in the DeDion axle section of www.gtstuning.co.uk you will find a conversion plate that will adapt a drum setup to discs.
In the braking section you'll also find the rear discs required and i can source the calipers as well if required.

I have some adaptor plates to convert the Sierra axle to discs. you'll need to source the discs, calipers and brkts, longer wheels studs, and
rubber brake pipes. Also you'll need to change the h/b cable ends
