Steering racks

Anybody used anything other than a conventional rear wheel drive Escort steering rack on their (otherwise ‘normal’) Locost?

The reason I ask is that I have a brand new XR2 super-duper quick rack staring me from the corner of the garage, and I’d quite like to use it! Any thoughts on chassis foul or bumpsteer issues?
I can cobble a downlink together using Fiesta and Sierra bits, and track rod ends won’t be a problem (I think!) What do you think? Any advice?

I’m using a book (Luego) chassis, BTW.

Cheers

the important bit about the rack is the distance between the joints to the arms i mean. A standard sierra rack is about 740 cm wide (sortofish). Since you have the fiesta rack could you measure the distance between the joints??
thanks

You may have a problem because (from memory) the Fiesta steers from the rear of the hubs whereas the Locost steers from the front - essentially swapping the direction of your steering. It's been a while since my Fessie was in my garage so I may be wrong.

If it's no good drop me a line and I'll do you a swap for a mk2 one..? Would be nice on my XR2k

Bloody hell Chris! You're right. Damn. Thought I'd cracked it there for a second. How could I have missed that?

What, a new Mk2 quick rack?

Good man. But I'll just see if I can get my money back first!
