Suspension brackets

Can anybody please advise ...........
I've made up my susp. brackets as per the RC book, I now realise that the holes I drilled ( 8mm ) are too small. I think that they should be 11mm, is this correct?
Are there any other funnies with the book that I should know about ?

It depends which bushes you are using. If the brackets are as per book then it'll be spitfire/herald metalastic bushes and the 8mm hole is right I think. If you've made them for polybushes then it's a 12mm(or a gnat's cock bigger) hole you need.

Thanks for that, but I'm still confused !!!
I bought a sample metalastic bush today (herald / spitfire) and the I.D is 11mm as per RC's list in chapter 7. This ties up with the axle brackets but not the susp. brackets. Guess I'll have to drill them out!

They won't be 11mm, more likely 7/16". I know that's not a lot of difference. It's all to do with the size of the bolt you are using, which, coming from an old fashioned car like a Herald, is going to be imperial rather than metric.
You'll probably find it easier to buy 7/16 drill and bolts htan 11mm anyway

The crush tube centre of a herald bush (Y419) is 3/8, just under 10mm, ream them out with a 10mm drill (or a reamer if you're posh) and use M10 x 75 8.8 bolts

Just measured one to make sure,

Crush tube internal is 9.74mm
Crush tube length is 36.86mm
Crush tube wall thickness is 2.04mm
Rubber diameter is 21.54mm

The tube looks like it is intended for a 3/8 bolt with 0.215mm clearance, sorry for the mixed units, I just cannot think in imperial!!
