Not bad (the tits on your avatar i mean).

Wheels are ok, but suspect Oz/Halfords combo would be out of my league.

Just tell her the price is (say) £150, just omit the bit afterwards "for one"! As they say, ignorance is bliss.

Spooky!! You're spot on, I know its big cash, hardly 'locost' and £150 more than fox, 100+ etc, but hey I'm worth it! There 195/45r16 with toyo proxes btw.

I never thought it would be this hard to choose wheels these must be my 10th choice......

B4 u make a final choice (tho' them are lovely wheels) speak to Mark at Mach1 in Sheffield, as he's is a dealer for Rimstock and does them much cheap than Halfords - 0114 2619 633 - and tell him I gave u the number

gjn:

Is the car finished, and you're just looking for wheels? If so choose choose choose and then try to drive them ragged.

Otherwise, it may be worth not buying them yet, as prices, fashions, car colour, etc may all be subject to change.

Anyone got any opinions on decent second hand? (If they're checked properly, shot blasted and repainted)

This is a very good point and the only thing stopping me rushing out and getting them. Car will not be on the road for at least 9 months and I've got some crappy scrapyard wheels for the build (which is'nt at my house). These are to sit in the conservcatory looking pretty to keep me motivated.

It would also be worth looking at the weight of the wheels you plan to get as it can make quite a difference. I was planning on putting OZ super tourismo or super leggiero on mine but was put off because apparently they're very heavy. I'm thinking now maybe I'll put superlites on, because although they're a bit pricey (although from what I've seen not necesarily desperately more expensive than OZ) and they got a bad write up from a few people with regard to customer service, they are very light (hence the name) and they are custom made, so no aggrivation with ofsets, PCDs and so on. Also, they're not a million miles from me, which will save on postage, and I can go and hastle them face to face if need be.

I think it depends on what you want your wheels to do/be...

Minilights are v light, loads of racers have em, don't they? But they look coolest as wide Mini wheels (in my opinion).

Does the extra weight effect normal roadgoing 7's? (A question not an fact)

Heavier alloy wheels are normally "cooler" or "sexier", with say seven thin spokes, or something on that theme.

Pays your money takes your choice. Anyone got any ideas of a happy medium?
(Ie light and trendy, not 70's and heavy!)

Graham, sorry to sound like a kill-joy, but I read this site from work. Not PC if people walk past and see the bouncies.

Mind you, it would be an idea for the site? Have a work / home mode and have it select between normal and raunchy images .. . . or even have the 'work'' mode look like a spreadsheet . .

Actually, the new (well new-ish now) OZ Superleggera (that's what you mean right?)...

...are lovely and light. The advertising blurb goes on about learning from their F1 wheels and using titanium impregnated alloy, blah blah. But they really only weigh 4.9kg for a 15", which is rather good. Other OZ's - Super T, F1 etc, and your other trendy alloys all tend to weigh nearly twice as much for the same size (around 8 - 10kg for 15").

The cheapest Superlites (single piece cast ally) are actually heavier at 13" than a 15" OZ Superleggera, which isn't all that surprising given their bulky spokes. If you want your Superlites to really be light, you have to opt for their more exotic materials/construction/price. One thing superlites are is immensly strong though (not that an OZ is gonna break on a Locost).

Do what my mate did and go to a wheel shop with some scales. I also found a website a while ago with wheel weights - wheelweights.com or net maybe.

I'm putting OZ SuperL's on my car.

Just a thought M8 before you commit, price up replacement tyres and then decide if you can afford to run them. All it would take is for some stupid mindless moronic twat to decide that he thought you deserved to have your tyres slashed one day while your out & then your into about £100 per tyre or more. Depending on availability.

like I said just a thought.

Enjoy.

As an editor of several jazz mags, plus an actor in skin flicks, it would be frowned at if i didn't have bouncies on the screen! Horses for courses...

Have to agree with John about the bouncies, I read locostbuilders at work, and although I'm allowed to browse the web when I've got a spare however long, in theory it should at least be related to my job, which it isn't, meaning I have to be a bit more subtle about it, and having an (admitedly small and blurred) image of a cartoon character with enormous knockers could cause comments to be made, especially by the female members of staff if they were to see it.

Equally, I'm sorry to be a kill joy or appearing to crush your self expression, but could you have something a little more subtle maybe? please?

I'm not having a go gjn, and if you really wanna keep it, fine, I'll find a way around it.

Liam :

I'm gonna have to get some of those Super L's, when you say "new" how old are they? They don't look disimilar from the ones that have been out for a few years, but then I haven't looked at them in a lot of detail, and you don't see a lot of them around (possibly because they on the painful side of expensive, and possibly because they're a little to subtle for your average boy racer given the price).

Anyway, next, very important question, do they fit and are they available in 15s or 16s?

I also though masitaly VT7s would be pretty cool, but a) I think there's a bit to much metal and not enough air to suit the locost (look absolutely amazing on an Audi A3 in my opinion) and b) only appear to come in 17s and 18s, which means they're distinctly on the pimpin side, probably won't fit, and are very expensive.

Update : just checked a few weights and prices : as an example Super T 16s are the same weight as Super L 18s, jeez, that's a lot of difference.

Prices aren't as painful as I anticipated :

Super L 15s x 4 : £470.99
Super L 16s x 4 : £533.99

and finally for the loaded pimps out there :

super L III (forged) 18s x 4 : £1839.99

or even nicers (ahem) :

super L III (forged) 20 x 9.5 x4 : £2494.99

I just hope I'm not around when anybody with a set of them curbs them!!!!

No weights given for the VT7s but I'd suspect they're about the same a Super Ts.

Just checked, and those prices are inclusive of VAT and shipping.

some companies would consider using the internet at work to view non related to work sites as a dismissable offence, regardless of whats on there.

I like the avatar - its just distracting!!!

political correctness....bollocks to that

Just open your favourites

If you open favourites, or the search, on your webpage, it should pop up on the left hand side of the screen.

With a bit of widening of the column, you can cover the avatars (as i do) and still see all the words.

And then you can take snaeky peaks.
