GTS shocks the story and details

Until December 2002 GTS shocks were known as Nitrons. I have rebadged them GTS because Nitron need to seperate them from their high end racing damper products.

The GTS series damper has been designed specifically for the Locost and are not available for any other vehicles at present. GTS were asked by Ron Champion to design an inexpensive but good quality coil-over package for the Locost, because, as he saw it, nearly everything else was pretty easy to obtain, but suitable coil-overs were not. Their considerable experience with 7 type vehicles enabled them to get pretty much in the ball park straight away with the damping, but several prototypes later GTS had perfected it. Ron was supplied with some dampers for his car during the early development stages. They have arrived at a fast road set-up, with the damping being optimised for the car's characteristics with a Ford crossflow engine.

There are two versions of the Locost dampers, one with an adjustable spring platform and one with a fixed platform. The adjustable platform has the advantage of allowing you to vary the ride height and set the corner weights, the fixed platform sets the chassis height at 4.5" front and 5" rear (this may vary slightly from car to car depending on the way it has been built).

Please note the rear dampers mount onto an axle equipped with a double shear lower shock mounting bracket as drawn in the book.

GTS Tuning is the sole distributor of the Locost coil-over package.

The drawings and photos show the coil-overs in situ and give dimensions of the dampers, spring rates etc.

Prices:-

Fixed Platform Unit - £188* inc springs and VAT
Adjustable Platform Unit - £220* inc springs and VAT
*Kits include 4 shocks and 4 springs pre-installed, ready to fit. Rescued attachment Lcstweb6.jpg

are these adjustable for bump and rebound? (double or triple adjustable?)

are they available with spherical bearings/joints as opposed to rubber bushes?
