Shortening Steering Racks

Never taken a rack apart. Whats involved in shortening a rack yourself? Anything in particular to look out for?

Unless you've got access to a lathe, I'd get someone to do it for you.

i believe mk cut them in half then sleeve the outside/casing, not sure what they do internally...

Its not very expensive to get it done for you, just dont do what i did and forget to get the extensions...

I imagine the innards are cut and shut sort of...

Hi Go - I shortened my rack myself, Del Long gave me some advice on how to go about it. I describe what I did on my site at http://www.7builder.com, in "Build tips->Steering->Steering Rack". HTH!
