Granada 5 stud hub differences?

Howdy all,

After forking out some hard earned money for a new 4pot brake set up from HiSpec, it seems as though the caliper mounting lugs on my original uprights are
A) M12 (not threaded) and not M10 as they should be....???

And more B) more worryingly, the part of the casting the the original callings mounted to is 7mm thicker on 1 side, o/s being 17mm and n/s 10mm causing one of the brake kit brackets not to fit.

Does anyone know how or why this can be...??? Where Granada calipers handed?

HiSpec have suggested that they have been drilled to 12mm and that one side could be a pattern part.

Has anyone heard anything like this before ? Or know where they may have used thicker caliper mounts?

Best Regards
Stuart

No idea of year. They are 5 x 112, and were advertised as a Mk2. Could be granny cosworth ? Brak disc sits over the top so they are not a mk1.

got a pic ?

the ones I can see in your archive look the same as mine (assuming they arn't from a 24v cossie if they are different)

I've got mk3 ones (the granada / Scorpio 85-94) they are almost the same as a sierra and use the same calipers as the XR4i but the discs have a 5mm shallower bell/offset
(the lugs on the upright are offset 5mm compared to the sierra to make up for this)

varies between 16.5mm and 17mm. The other side is difficult to measure as its actually on (and fits) ....around 11- 12mm in thickness on the verniers.

Oh and dont worry thats an old brake disc in the background

^^ that pic it certainly looks like a mk3 granny hub...

just checked the brakes I've got (1989 2.0 pinto granny) - the caliper carrier is the threaded part but its only M10 not M12
Front Brake Caliper - 260mm
Front Brake Caliper - 260mm

(these are the ones that fit with 260mm discs used on std. grannys)

I beleve the 24v cossie brakes are the same as the escort cossie and 4x4 sierra cossie - these are the same style of single pot caliper as in my pic, but a size bigger (278mm discs) - never had a set of these, so these could be fixed with M12's but I don't know for sure
I know the 2wd sierra cossie used massive iron 4 pot calipers that are fixed with M12's threaded in the hub (got a rusty pair in the shed) - maybe someone tried to fit these as a upgrade ?

I'm sure both sides on mine were the same - I stripped the donor myself and it hadn't been messed about (it was my next door neighbours car for most of its life)
That lug does seem thicker than I remember and its definatly thicker than the sierra ones - and since the sierra and grannny ones I've got used the same length of bolt I'm assuming they are the same thickness lugs
(I know that seems like the long way round, but can't measure the granny lugs themself as I don't have any granny uprights left at the moment )

I'm using granada hubs and my calliper carriers are m12. Mine are from a 1994 granada.
