Today I went to the scrappy and found........

Today i went to the scrappy today and found suprise suprise no cortina uprights in fact the guy at the counter laughed when i mentioned them.I did find 2 sets of granada uprights thou, these look like the cortina units at the rear but had 5 studs.
Now my question is can the granny hub unit be exchanged with a cortina or sierra unit to convert them to 4 bolt or are the stubs wrong and would the calipers line up with the smaller disk if you did?

By the way there were 2 cortinas with the rear axles still attatched one was in perfect condition and looked like a recent recon, it was on a fire damaged car.If your looking for one for a wide arse car in Lincolnshire u2u me and I'll tell you were it is

Craig,

I posted a month or two back tht an old granada has the same uprights. the m16 brakes are on most cars, so its just a matter of finding something with the same hubs and putting it all together. I'm no expert, but don't see why they shouldn't fit. what do mk1 + 2 escort do for hubs?

Ned.

Mk1 and 2 Escort hubs are no good. Granny ones will work but they are 5 stud which means you'll have trouble getting decent wheels for it. Converting to 4 stud would need donor bits from a Sierra so why not just get the whole hub from the Sierra and save some hassle? Every scrappy will no doubt have at least one somewhere!
