Building: Another Locost and keeping a Tomcat running

Type nine problem.

I have just fitted a type 9 gearbox to my zetec engine. Unfortunatly I can not get it into 2nd gear. I was wondering if this was a common problem and is easyily fixed or would I be better not wasting my time and putting another one in???
