How long does it take to get reg papers?

It's been a while since mine, but I took car to appointment at Maidstone DVLA, had inspection, chap wandered off (still in site) and came back 1/2 hour later with paperwork.

Took car home, unloaded and went to get plates, put them on, went for a drive

Inspection Wednesday, Tax disc & authority to Number plate arrived Rec' Del' the following Tuesday. Registration Document arrived the following Saturday.

It seems a lot depends on how the local office handles things.

SVA Friday 3rd April - first time pass. Saw inspector at VOSA centre but he couldn't do inspection until paperwork was submitted to local office. Not his fault, good guy.

Paperwork submitted to DVLA Monday 6th April

Inspection Wednesday 8th April - no probs, straightforward Q plate registration.

Went to local office again Thursday 9th April - no joy...
Closed Friday/Monday for Easter

Really frustrating that I couldn't get the car on the road over the Easter weekend but I suppose I don't have too much cause for complaint so far. It'll be a different story if I don't get my documents by the end of this week...

How hard can it be to just generate a Q plate and sign off the paperwork? I want to give the DVLA some money for heaven's sake, why won't they let me give it to them???

I got mine done at Maidstone as well.
They did mine whilst I waited to

Sounds like we were the lucky ones.
