Anyone chipped a 1.9 Golf Mk5 TDI???

Anyone know where i can get a TDi golf chipped? I was reading in PPC the other day that someone got 190bhp from his golf with a remap! I want one!

Check out revo - they do great re-maps for VAG diesels, and will even give you a free 5 hour trial! Went from 100 to 145 bhp with my Passat, made a massive difference, and genuinely improved economy. Torque made a gaint midrange leap too, makes the car so much more fun to drive. Think it was £450 +vat, pretty cheap for 45 bhp I'd say!

Cheers

I had my 1.9tdi Leon mapped (same engine)

It made a fantstic difference, although not as much as you have been quoted. Mine went from 105bhp to ~135bhp effectively giving the performance of the 2.0tdi.

To get 190bhp, I think you'd need more than just a re-map. Probably intercooler mods, injectors etc.

Imagine what it would be like if there were no hypothetical situations.

Depends which variant of the TDi engine you have.

If its a PD 1.9 (130bhp or 150bhp as std) then you can get them remapped by people like Jabbasport or CCC. If you start with a 150bhp engine a £300 remap will see 180bhp. A £500 custom map might see 190bhp without any other mods. To get more than that you need a decat downpipe and front mount intercooler.

If its not a PD engine (90bhp, 105bhp or 115bhp as std) then you wont see much over 140bhp.

My TDI leon is 180bhp with close to 300lbft of torque....quite mad really....

get it on the rollers for a map dont use a bodge box....

i have a custom map on my vectra and have 194bhp at the wheels and 298lbft.

no doubt the dmf will explode soon.

also check what torque your gear box was designed for

If it's a Mk 5 1.9 then it's a 105ps PD engine.

The 105 and the 115 are both PD engines.

The old 90 and 110 engines are the non-PD engines. Only the newer twin cam 2 litre diesels in the cars have moved over to common rail.

Cock off or cock on. You choose.
