Lancaster Bomber
I could just fancy building the model Lancaster Bomber which is currently advertised on TV...
Only thing is - you have to buy all the magazines at £4.99 each - and there's 125 of them

These magazines are a total scam
I doubt you would ever be able to get the full 125 editions, even if you did want to pay that sort of money.
I bet you could find a similar model at a good model shop anyway - or build one yourself.

if you are really serious about building one. i have a set of scale plans for the rc version. drawn by the legend Brian Taylor. wing span is around
6m.

its not to bad to transport. each wing half unbolts from the fuz all you have to do is un bolt it and unhook a few control wires.
only took 2 years to build that one. that will be the same time span as the magazine one. cost is a little bit more but look what your getting.

If people go to so much effort to build something like that, why on earth wouldn't they put on three blade props so it at least looks
like they belong on the plane?
Those twin blade props look awful on a Lancaster.
Cock off or cock on. You choose.

I wouldnt like to have to pay the insurance on that, ie it falling out the sky and landing on a group of spectating kids.
I know there are rules about flying etc, but accidents happen, and that model would do more than a simple injury.
It could write my car off
Nice model though.
1. The point of a journey is not to arrive.
2. Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

Those twin blade props look awful on a Lancaster.
Three blade props are a pig to balance and usually cause engine running problems on models. the real planes have adjustable pitch on the blades
unlike models.
i agree if it were a static model then yes 3 blade props are a good idea.
on a 6m flying model the engine not cutting out because it hasn’t got the manufacturer specified prop on is a bit more important.
when its running it makes little odds from an aesthetic point of view.

Yeah I saw that advert on the telly too. The model looks quite good but its all just laser cut wood parts, which is a very quick and cheap process. I
build r/c planes and that’s how I get mine cut these days as I’m just too lazy to spend ages cutting bits of wood.
The total price of that model is put simply, outrageous and you could very easily build a nice flying model of a Lancaster of around 2m wing span for
that amount. My advice is to have a look through one of the scale model plane mags and you’ll see loads of companies who supply both plans and kits of
parts.
I use to buy mags on plastic models and laughed when they referred to a model as huge when it was only like a foot long. Most of my flying ones are at
least 2m some over 4m wingspan and cost me less than some of those plastic kits. Each to their own I suppose.

At least they changed the rules so these magazines have to make it known from the getgo how many magazines you have to collect.
But it's a blatant rip 
I agree that 3 blades look better but they're also less efficient- only reason they were fitted on the original was because otherwise they would
have dug up the runway with the props as they took off. Now such a problem with R/C engines which have less torque but spin faster...

given the number of stringers in the airframe I’d say that most of your parts will be masses of little sticks of wood lol
Doesn’t even look suitable for flying with micro r/c gear as its just too fragile.
Total waste of money imo and will take almost 2 1/2 years to build what a total drag
