I saw one of these at castle combe a couple of weeks ago. The guy fitted it with a 1.8 engine from a MGF or MGTF, I don't remember which. He was an engineer for rover and helped design the engine. He'd tweeked his to get 185 bhp. Stripped and caged the inside and fitted it with R888's.

It cruised around combe and was a propper little car.

With tax and ticket its fair. Only issue with metros is the limted chassis tweaks available.
If I was affer a sub£1k hot hatch sleeper it would be another Nova or maybe a Pug 205/106.

If I die, my biggest fear is that my wife sells all my toys for the price I told her I bought them for...

A car that's been modified internally but looks as close to standard as possible. A wolf in sheep's clothing. Sleepers ftw.

The mental gymnastics a landlord will employ to justify immoral actions is clinically fascinating. Just because something is legal doesn't make it moral.

Sometimes called Q cars, after the Q ships of WW2.

Edit: Apparently sleeper is the American version

Imagine that car with those steels banded wider by about 50mm and some Audi-Quattro/Lancia Delta Integrale Evoluzione bulged arches fitted, that would be proper tough!

About 7 years ago I had a Metro with a 1.8 MGF engine

A 1.4 gti but with a 1.8 MGF K series engine. Stripped it out, uprated the clutch and brakes, Emerald ECU by Dave Walker, head work, Cams, Throttle Bodies, oil cooler, etc etc. Got it to 182bhp.

Was a hoot
