Engine Breather

I've got a 1600 xflow 691 block engine. The breather on the side of the engine seems to feed not oily air directly into the inlet manifold. Surely this can't be an efficient way of running an engine. Am I missing something or is there a way to bypass the oily breath!!

With the FF1600 race engines we remove it and stick a core plug in the hole. However the engines are in 'perfect' mechanical order so don't chuff.....

You want to pipe in a oil separator which feeds back into the inlet to keep the vacuum pull to remove blow by gasses.
Or you can just fit a catch tank venting to atmosphere, not as good a job but will stop your inlet getting oily.
I've used Saikou Michi separators on two cars now,and they work really well

of course they perfect. the 5litre container ziptied to the gearbox was purely to act as a rear crash structure ;-)
