Type 9 oil seal

Hi Guys,

This might be a stupid question, but what stops the oil coming out of a type 9 gearbox from the prop end when the prop is inserted?

From what i can see, there just seems to be a rubber seal that goes round the prop as you insert, but surely that's not going to stop the oil getting out as the prop is spinning?

Regards,
Andy

That's what they do, crankshaft seals are the same.

Props spin fast, but they don't change size whilst spinning! The seal/gap is the same still or spinning!
