There are a couple of methods of doing it. I'll do a search for some links to solutions. I think MAC#1 still do an extension

Try them, their details are on www.mac1motorsports.co.uk

Gear stick

Had the same problem but with type 9 5 speed gear box. Contacted MAC#1 and they were extremly helpful and sent one by return. Worked a treat.

I have one from Westfield they are about £80 (I think) but worth every penny as the gearchange is silky smooth and never misses.

Type 9 gear lever will not fit a 4 speed box IIRC . Type 9 has a plate to locate gearlever using 3 bolts to attach and 4 speed boxes use a large plastic nut? Think there was a 4 speed remote on E bay , may still be available HTH
