Flow coat question
Having finished some mods to my fibreglass rear section I want to re-apply the black flow coat (on the inside surface) to match the rest of the
bodywork.
Is flow coat just black pigment mixed with resin or is it not that simple?
Once mixed, can I apply it by brush?
Cheers,
Raz

I thought flow-coating was a technique for putting the final colour coats on a panel to reduce the amount of orange peel and, therefore,
buffing/polishing.

You probably mean gelcoat.

Gel coat is surely for the outer surface?
AFAIK flow coat is to smooth out the inside and prevent light penetration.
It has a slightly waxy finish so I suspect there is an special additive to achieve this.

Raz,
Flowcoat is gelcoat with added goo to take away the stickyness.
I use gelcoat with a dash of resin and wax solution then brush it on but make sure you flat down the surface first to remove any high spots and sharp
bits.

Flowcoat is designed to water proof the matt surface.

Thanks Mark - exactly the info I need
I have just found a local supplier who does a ready mixed flow coat which will be easier for me to use. I didn't realise that gelcoat
doesn't go off when exposed to air - the additive apparently forces it to cure completely
