Alan "Fluff" Freeman dies

Sad news for all. The inspiration for Smashy or Nicey and the "Greetings pop pickers" originator can only be called an icon of radio broadcasting and is irreplaceable.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

John peel is probably more missed from my radio than freeman sadly.

Freeman lived not far from me and was well known as yet another one of twickenhams shirt lifting brigade

That probably explains his replacement.

Dale Winton John Peel was a pioneer and according to the article was a close friend of Freeman. It was the Sunday chart countdown that I remember. If you hold people's sexual preferences against them that's just written off the entertainment industry en bloc bob.

So sad Do you remember switching the radio on at 5pm every Sunday to listen to the new charts Pop Pickers.....?

Then tuning into Radio Luxembourg and Radio Caroline to see how they differed

Although I agree that now John Peel is most missed, at that time, Fluff was king!

Guess its an 'age' thing Bob

Pretty sure I was listening to Fluff on the car radio in 1968 in my Mk1 sprite, hood down and a glorious sunny April day, when it was announced that Jim Clarke had been killed in an accident at Hockenheim.
Ah, memories.
