Best mate
Could do with some support at the moment as my best mate in work is leaving us. Worked with him for 14 years and he's also taught me a lot in
that time and to be honest i think i only liked my job because i worked with him.
Totally pi@@ed off at the moment and am now not looking forward to my future in work.
Any advice, or kick up the arse words would be nice in this time of distress

14 years at the same place - Well done.
I was at first place for 13 before redundant. Moved 3 times in last 7 years and doubled salary. Food for thought.
A mate of mine has just left good jon in car factory to work on the rigs and trebled salary overnight. Dont think i could fancy working in Angola
though.

TBH, You won't feel better until way after he's gone unless you do something about it.
Is there anyone else you "hang out" with at work? If so, and they're a happy bunch, I'd start spending more time with them.
Quite surprising how much the guy next to you leaving can depress you...

Mmm take my dog, top idea but i think she might get a flash if she comes with me(i'm a steel fabricator).
Don't get me wrong i get on with all the lads in work, it's just that i've worked with him for so long, and he could always make a
bad day a good laugh with his comedy one liners that things just won't be the same anymore.
Anyway i'm sounding a right old soppy to@@er now so i'll give myself a good slap and get on with it

I don't know you're line of work, or how easy it would be to get another job, however a good technique is to have 2 columns on a sheet of
paper headed, good points & bad points about all aspects of the job then list them down.
go through every thing, travelling time, pay, conditions, hours, perks, pension, bonus?, canteen, facilities, management attitude, how you are treated
- every thing.
Its easy to get down when people leave, but the job must have something going for it apart from your mate for you to stick with it 14 years.
Turn it on its head, think of yourself as now having to pass on the skills you have learnt to some one else.
At the end of the day work is all about earning money, if you enjoy it - its a bonus.
Keep yer chin up - springs on its way.
When you're up to your ass in alligators you tend to forget the initial objective was to drain the swamp !.

I personally cannot condone any form of intercompany fratenising with the opposite sex, especially if you are married.
And not even if it's the works xmas party and you've both had far to much to drink and everyone else has gone home.
