Hydraulic handbrake
Has anyone had any experience with one of those hydraulic handbrakes from demon theives?
They look awesome but im confused as to how you would build it into your rear brake line, would you just t peice the rear brake line onto the output
from the handbrake master cylinder.

They either use the master cylinder inline, or use a seperate system with a seperate reservoir and calipers.
DO NOT PUT ON KNOB OR BOLLOCKS!

The hydraulic master cylinder just fits in the line to the rear brake. I fitted one to the trials car for hill starts. It still has the mechanical
handbrake.

They do come with a kit to allow a cable set up thus allowing you to change if needed for mot's.

Apart from the legalities, it really is not a good idea to rely on a hydraulic handbrake only for obvious reasons. Having a hydraulic brake does not
prevent you from having a mechanical one as well so you have the best of both worlds.

The rally boys just leave the cables connected but somewhat slackened to ensure the hydrauilc system operates first.

From the manual........
"Hydraulic Parking Brakes
Hydraulic parking brakes as a sole means of operation are not acceptable on vehicles first used on or after 1 January 1968. However, they may be used
to assist the application or release of a mechanical brake. "
My understanding of that wording and I know a VOSA inspector, is that you can have a hydraulic handbrake on a pre 1968 vehicle.
However I would never trust my vehicle parked on a hill with a hydraulic handbrake!

Cheers for all input guys.
I probably wouldn't even make good use of one anyway but i just liked the look of it compared to me battered old escort one.

Just remember don't park your car on a hill when the brakes are hot.
