XE ignition module failing???

Still having a few hiccups on the XE in my F27
after a run of about 20 minutes , when i brake coming up to a junction or roundabout , the revs drop from around 900rpm til it stalls,I have to press the accelerator down to keep the revs up, but it will keep stalling, unless I pull over and let it all cool down. then it starts again and behaves itself until after 20 minutes or so,when it all happens again!!
the water temp creeps up too, and oil pressure drops.
I have replaced the oil pump, checked and replaced the king lead , I did swop over the bosch ignition module ( twin 45's on cav mk2 dizzy - so no ecu) but it wouldnt even start, so I swopped it back again,
Would a failing ignition module cause the symptoms I have described??
or could it be the coil failing,
any ideas anyone?
spoiling my fun all this hassle in this lovely weather
Greg

In my expereince a failed module would cause a complete hault to the engine. firing or a miss fire/ firing on 3 cylinders, rather than a iffy idle. I would say check the idle valve but if ur on carbs you wont have one! so id look at carbs/setup 1st.

Greg, do you want to borrow my dizzy/coil/module again? At least we know that is all 'known good' - you can try swapping one at a time then?

But TBH, with the symptoms you describe - I reckon the coil is the next thing that would be on my list of swaps...

Stu,
I have changed the coil over for a new one tonight( the old one looked quite corroded looking inside where the king lead fits!!), and await another trial run!!
will give you a shout if any more probs!

All sorted - I think!!!
took the dizzy cap off to find the little black bit in the middle of it on the inside was missing!
so it must have been arcing between the the king lead and the rotar arm!!
replaced the cap with a new one and replaced the rotar arm too . runs a lot better now!!!
jeez its quick!!!
a lot better than me old pinto
