Hello people,

I'm am in need of some help/advice.
I am still having problems with my 2.0 duratec over fuelling.

My question is what sensors does the OEM ecu need to run the engine.

The current configuration of the engine is as follows,
Standard 2.0 duratec (2004 mondeo)
Caterham alloy inlet plenum
4-1 exhaust system
OEM ECU.

Any help will be appreciated.

Got all the usual things plugged in?

Map, Maf, coolant etc etc??

yep I believe so, however if I had a list I could check against then I may well have taken something out which it would need like the EGR.

I don't know of anyone having done the Duratec yet. I've done others and have a 2.0 Duratec for when I get around to it.

I've run 2.0 zetecs with plenum and four branch manifolds and the ecu coped well.

So sensors you need

Crank
Cam
Coolant temp
Air temp (in maf)
Maf
Pre cat O2
Post cat O2
Tps

I doubt it will have egr they had swirl flaps in the inlet to promote a leaner burn.

Hi,
yep it defiantly has/had an egr but i removed it due to not having to pass emissions as it registered as a G reg.
It also doesnt have a cat.
Both pre and post lambda sensors are there but they only seem to switch 3-4 times in a 15 second window display.
Im just wondering if the car is in start up mode due to the ecu not seeing the egr valve switch over.
Duratecs run Tmap.

Oh yeh I forgot about that extra port on the head. They also had swirl flaps in the inlet mani and a controller.

What codes are you getting via obd2

There's no fault codes as they are switching, just not as often as they should.

Swirl flaps won't affect fuelling, they were so dodgy that a lot of mondeo owners have had them removed with no ill effects. I believe they just disrupt airflow at low revs to get a better burn. Same with the egr, it may bring up an engine light if it's missing but I had no issue blanking it off.

The t-map sensor is in the standard manifold and does have a lot of influence over fuelling, do you have an appropriate replacement in your manifold? If I unplug mine the car gets very unhappy.

I have used the oem Tmap in the caterham plenum, it plays up when you disconnect it.
