Registration Documents
I know this has been covered many many times before, but... Has anyone applied for registration recently?
If so, do you have to have insurance? i.e send off an insurance covering note?
Also, any updates of how long it is taking for them to be processes at current?
New registration checklist so far:
Photo card driving licence
IVA certificate
V55/4 - new car application
V627 - build up inspection report
Receipts for components listed on V627
Cert of Newness
Cheque for £55 for registration
Cheque for Tax
A few photos
Anything missed? I'm desperate to get it sorted asap after waiting over 5 weeks for a 1 hour re-test slot.
Cheers, James

copy everything before you send it, and send it 'special delivery / tracked / signed for'

Thanks for the tip, I had planned to do that.
I'm still unsure of the insurance issue... The way I read it, you only need the insurance if you are registering to a NI address

for the tax, you need insurance. (which they should be able to check electronically hence cover note not required). - send it if you have
one.

I interpreted it that a cover note was needed so I sent mine in the package. Mine arrived with DVLA a week past Wednesday, I checked they had received
it and am expecting a call back on Wednesday this week. Hopefully I have supplied everything required so fingers crossed it won't take too much
longer.

Agreed, copy everything and if you send it then use signed for delivery to ensure it gets there OK.

I think the cover note is mandatory.
As the insurance is against a chassis number, it cannot go on the electronic system.

Not sure if I am missing something but who do you make the cheques payable to? DVLA Swansea?
And, are you supposed to write your name and address on the reverse of said cheque?
Cheers

On this topic, how do I find information on my BECs road tax? Not sure how much the cheque should be when I send all the paperwork through.
Any information would be most appreciated !

The VED (road tax) is calculated on engine capacity, so under or over 1549cc.

It's done on engine size as a pre 2001 vehicle due to not having the emissions/km data. Under 1549cc is currently £145
