Hi
I've used Designworks Lite. Fairly straight forward but you'll have to create specialised symbols like switches and relays. It's free to try.
Alternatively what about Visio? You can draw just about anything. But again a lot of the switches and relays aren't exactly UK auto types so you draw your own.

Good luck

Visio is good for me also, if you use the link line thing and attatch the ends you can drag boxes about and the lines hop over rather than connecting.

This means that you can connect everything up logically then just drag the switches about to make a neat end product.

I think that there may be a source of symbols available from one of the Visio support forums. That should make it fairly easy to do.

edit - someting like this

you've got them on paper so what do you gain by having them on a computer?

Just a contrary note - I'm an electronics designer by trade, & I never considered 'drawing' a wiring diagram. What I do have is a wiring list - every wire has number identifiers on each end & the list has every wire number, source, destination & cross section.
To be honest I've not even put the list on the 'puter - it's in the build logbook.

I agree with Bob on this one but only when you're dead sure things will work,

trouble shooting with a pin-list is a nightmare.

as for making drawings, I use paint, I have made a template that has various sings for switches lights relays and motors that I insert in my to make drawing, after that it's a simple case of select & copy-paste that mutliplies the signs I need at a certain moment.

when 'm finished I just erase the sign template and i'm done.

paint is on my work computer, cad is not
